OnStar Provides All Services to All Active Subscribers Affected, Regardless of Plan

Nissan Announces Plan to Grow Presence in Argentina
– Memorandum of understanding signed with new business partner Manuel Antelo

Tim Allen to be the Voice of Chevrolet

Television and movie star Tim Allen will be the voice of Chevrolet, beginning with the TV advertising for the all-new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The first ads for the Cruze will air next Tuesday, Sept. 7, Chevrolet announced today.
“Tim Allen brings the right combination of a recognizable voice with the credibility, likeability and humor that will connect with viewers,” said Joel Ewanick, vice president, U.S. marketing, General Motors. “His passion for all things cars makes him the perfect match for the Chevrolet brand.”
Allen is best known for his work in television’s “Home Improvement” and movies including the “Toy Story” trilogy, as the voice of Buzz Lightyear, and “The Santa Clause” franchise. He is a native of the Detroit area and has a long-standing love affair with automobiles.
Allen has an extensive car collection, including personally designed versions of a 1996 Chevrolet LT5 Impala SS, a 2000 Cadillac DeVille DTSi.
“Everyone knows Tim Allen is a ‘car guy’ with Michigan roots,” said Debbie Crispin, owner, Bill Crispin Chevrolet of Saline, Mich. “What a great voice for Chevrolet.”
Allen will debut in the advertising for the all-new Chevrolet Cruze, which will use accolades from the news media and comparisons to competitive cars in the compact segment to introduce the Cruze to the marketplace. These ads will be followed by additional television ads with a large social media component, product integration in relevant shows and events, as well as advertising specific to the features and benefits of the Cruze.
“Tim Allen will be the voice in our Cruze advertising, but the car will be the star,” Ewanick said. “Our communication on the Cruze will highlight the car, its features and its competitive advantages.”
Advertising will ramp up later this fall, as the Cruze begins arriving in volume at dealerships.

The Cruze offers the spaciousness and amenities of a midsize car with the fuel economy of a compact. The Cruze also affirms Chevrolet’s commitment to building refined, fuel-efficient vehicles using new, small-displacement, four-cylinder engines. The Ecotec 1.4L I-4 turbo with variable valve timing received an Environmental Protection Agency fuel economy rating of 26 miles per gallon in city driving and 36 mpg on the highway for the manual transmission and 22/35 for the automatic. The Cruze Eco model launching later this year is expected to get 40 mpg on the highway.

World’s Most Famous Car Visits New York Prior to Hitting the Auction Block in London
The Aston Martin DB5 driven by James Bond – Sean Connery – in Goldfinger and Thunderball to make only U.S. appearance in advance of its October auction sale
NEW YORK, Sept. 3 English News Online — Arguably the world’s most famous car, the actual 1964 Aston Martin DB5 driven by James Bond – Sean Connery – in both Goldfinger and Thunderball will be on display for four days this month in New York City as it is readied to be the lead attraction for RM Auctions’ annual Automobiles of London event October 27th at the Battersea Evolution.
Presented by RM, in association with Sotheby’s, this DB5 is expected to bring more than $5 million during the auction, which would be the most ever paid for a “movie” vehicle. From September 14 to 17 the DB5 will grace the lobby of Sotheby’s building here at 1334 York Avenue.
Well-known around the world by its original UK registration number, FMP 7B, this Aston Martin is one of two, and the sole remaining, of the original ‘007′ DB5s featured on screen in the two Bond films. (The other was sold twice at auction before being stolen in 1997 from a Florida airport. It was never recovered.)
The DB5 was originally loaned to EON Productions for the movies’ filming and returned to the Aston Martin Lagonda factory after its subsequent promotional tour. Jerry Lee, a radio broadcaster based in Philadelphia, convinced the factory to sell FMP 7B to him in 1969 for $12,000, thereby becoming its first – and only – owner. The car, with very limited public appearances, has remained in his possession for more than 40 years.
With its ‘rather interesting modifications’ originally conceived by Oscar-award-winning special effects expert, John Stears, this authentic Bond movie car is factory-fitted with the full complement of operational ‘Q-Branch’ gadgets, including machine guns, bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen, all controlled from factory-installed toggles and switches hidden in the center arm-rest.

The party was part of TAG Heuer’s year-long celebration of its 150th anniversary. In recognition of this milestone, the brand joined forces with Tesla Motors Inc., the legendary electric sports car company, to create the one-of-a-kind TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster. This fully electric, emissions-free car is outfitted with a Heuer limited-edition one-fifth second stopwatch and a TAG Heuer Meridiist communications device. Additionally, a special console houses the ground-breaking TAG Heuer Pendulum Concept, a timepiece operated by the world’s first magnetic oscillator without a hairspring.

Boeing Conducts Remote 787 Testing
EVERETT, Wash., Sept. 3 English News Online — Four of the five Boeing (NYSE:BA) 787 flight test airplanes are conducting remote test operations this week. ZA005 continues testing from its base of operations in Seattle.
ZA001, the first 787, is taking a break from operations out of Edwards Air Force Base in California for a week’s worth of testing in Roswell, N.M. This is ZA001’s second visit to Roswell. Last month the airplane conducted wet-runway testing there. Testing in the days ahead will include rejected-takeoff conditions. ZA001 has been on remote deployment to Edwards Air Force Base for several weeks, with a focus on takeoff- and landing-performance conditions.
The second 787 is conducting high-latitude and cold-weather testing at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.
“We’ve been watching for the right weather conditions for some time,” said Scott Fancher, vice president and general manager of the 787 program. “The team was happy to see the forecast in Iceland met our needs and we deployed to Keflavik earlier this week.”
The hot weather in Yuma, Ariz., with temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius), has provided the necessary conditions for another set of tests happening on ZA003. Its deployment is expected to last English news online another week.
ZA004 has spent an extended time operating out of Victorville, Calif., conducting flight loads survey testing. This testing measures external pressure distributions throughout the flight envelope. ZA004 is set to do testing in Glasgow, Mont., after it wraps up its California testing.
Artificial ice shapes have been affixed to the leading edges of the wings and horizontal and vertical stabilizer of the fifth 787 to complete another group of tests required for certification. Ice-shape testing verifies the airplane’s performance in the presence of ice. Natural ice testing has already occurred.
“Flight test is staying very busy,” said Fancher. “We continue to be very pleased with the performance of the airplane. We’re definitely putting it through its paces, subjecting it to the harshest environments and conditions to ensure it is ready for revenue service.”
The 787 flight test fleet has conducted more than 1,650 hours of flying over more than 540 flights.

Pilgrim’s Resumes Export Shipments to Russia
GREELEY, Colo., Sept. 3 English News Online — Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation (NYSE: PPC) said it will resume export shipments to Russia tomorrow after the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) finalized certificates that must accompany the shipments.
Pilgrim’s has four Russia-approved processing plants that are currently packing product for Russia. Those plants are located in Boaz, Ala.; Russellville, Ala.; Athens, Ga.; and Dallas, Texas. The company said it expects shipments to Russia to begin loading at U.S. ports tomorrow.
“Demand from Russia is very strong. We have sold out our entire Russian-approved production for the next 30 days and prices have continued to strengthen,” said Don Jackson, Pilgrim’s president and chief executive. “Russia is an important export market for U.S. chicken and the re-opening of the borders will be a significant benefit to our company and industry.”
In July, Russian officials signed a formal poultry agreement with the United States outlining new processing requirements for domestic chicken that is to be exported to Russia. Earlier this year, Russia had banned all U.S. chicken that had been processed with chlorinated water. Under the new requirements approved in July, U.S. chicken companies can replace the chlorinated rinse with cetylpyridinium chloride, peroxyacetic acid or hydrogen peroxide.

ENER1 Announces $65 Million Capital Raise
NEW YORK, Sept. 3 English News Online — ENER1, Inc. (NASDAQ:HEV) today announced that it has agreed to sell $55 million of senior unsecured notes, together with shares of common stock and warrants, to certain investment funds, led by funds managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, L.P. In addition, the company also announced the sale of $10 million in senior convertible notes to strategic partner ITOCHU Corporation. This follows a $65 million investment from principal shareholder Ener1 Group in June of this year, and a $20 million investment from ITOCHU Corporation in December, 2009. The sale of the senior notes is subject to customary closing conditions, and is expected to be completed on or before September 8, 2010.

Ener1 will use these funds along with its grant from the United States Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, for general operating expenditures and to help pursue its intended manufacturing plans to install 260 MW, or capacity for 11,000 electric vehicle battery packs, at its three Indianapolis facilities.
“Ener1 has heavily invested in expanding its global manufacturing operations in response to the anticipated demand from the grid energy storage, transportation and small cell markets, allowing us to meet our growth objectives,” commented Chairman and CEO Charles Gassenheimer. “We are appreciative of the vote of confidence that our shareholders have placed in Ener1’s management team to execute its business plan.”
The principal of the notes is payable in 10 equal quarterly installments with a coupon of 8.25 percent. The first such installment is due on January 2011. The notes provide Ener1 with the option of paying principal and interest entirely in cash or, subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions, in stock, or a combination of cash and stock.

‘Thinking’ Car Key Predicts Driver Actions
Micro Computer Knows When to Lock, Unlock Buick LaCrosse Doors
DETROIT, Sept. 3 English News Online — When Dave Proefke gets locked out of his car, it’s called “research.”
Proefke, a General Motors Technical Fellow, leads a team that has developed an advanced wireless car key that automatically knows when to lock and unlock the doors on the 2011 Buick LaCrosse and selected other General Motors models.
“It does a lot of the thinking for you,” said Proefke. “It tries to determine your intended action and perform that action for you.”
The new key doesn’t require a button press or even a keyhole. Instead it sends out a constant stream of data to the vehicle that includes where the key is located. That helps the car decide whether the doors should be locked or unlocked based on pre-programmed behavioral scenarios.
The LaCrosse can be equipped with push-button start with smart key technology. It knows whether or not the key is present inside the car. If it is, theft-deterrent encrypted coding allows the vehicle to start. The highly sophisticated system removes many of the mechanical systems such as wiring and cylinders that can make a vehicle easier to steal.
“With push-button start available on the CXL and standard on the CXS, LaCrosse owners can enter the vehicle, push a button to start the car and away they go,” said Proefke. “No more fumbling for keys.”
Buick’s thinking car key knows when it has been left behind in a vehicle. Automatically sensing a lockout situation, it will alert the driver that the keys are still inside the vehicle. If the driver attempts to manually lock the doors, the fob system will keep the doors unlocked.
One of the common key fob myths is that someone could capture its signal and use it to steal a car. With advanced key fob technology, signals are encrypted and change with every button push. Stealing signals is virtually impossible.
Proefke, who grew up around cars, has been working on vehicle security systems for Buick for more than 20 years, and he holds several patents in the area.
“In the future, the functions that are on the key fob could be built into smartphone apps,” Proefke said. “Also, key fobs will become smaller and more jewelry-like and could even be worn.”

Leading the safety technology for the popular midsize crossover is Ford Motor Company’s (NYSE:F) exclusive AdvanceTrac with RSC. This electronic stability control system helps maintain a driver’s intended path by measuring side-to-side yaw through steering angle, lateral acceleration and yaw rate sensors and automatically making braking and throttle adjustments.
When wheel slip is sensed, AdvanceTrac reduces engine torque and applies selected brakes. RSC is an additional vehicle control software module that monitors and helps control vehicle roll rate.

— Adaptive cruise control allows the driver to set the vehicle’s cruising speed, using advanced radar technology to monitor traffic ahead and scan for slower vehicles. The system slows the vehicle to adapt for traffic conditions and maintain the preset distance between vehicles. Once traffic clears, the set speed returns. Gap distance settings can be customized from four predetermined options. — Collision warning with brake support helps reduce speed, automatically pre-charges brakes, provides a red warning light on the windshield as well as an audible beep and engages an electronic brake assist system to help drivers stop more quickly when the system detects a collision is imminent. — Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) with cross-traffic alert is a feature that can help detect vehicles in blind spots during normal driving, as well as traffic approaching from the sides when reversing out of parking spots. — MyKey® is designed to allow parents to encourage teenagers to drive safely and more fuel efficiently, and increase seat belt usage. The standard MyKey feature allows owners to designate keys that can limit the vehicle’s top speed, audio volume and other features. — Rear view camera automatically engages when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The camera is located in the liftgate above the license plate, and video is shown on the available 8-inch center stack touch screen with an image providing vehicle centerline, rear bumper orientation and trajectory lines to relate an object’s proximity to the rear of the vehicle. — Hill start assist helps keep the vehicle from rolling backward, making it easier to pull away when on a slope or hill. With the brake pedal pressed, if sensors detect the vehicle is on a slope, the system is automatically activated. Brake pressure is held in the braking system and the vehicle remains stationary on the slope for up to two seconds after the driver releases the brake pedal.
